What we do

We help universities, science parks and incubators to develop strategy, deliver projects and demonstrate impact. Our expertise is in enterprise, innovation, business engagement and knowledge exchange and we help by undertaking strategic reviews, bid writing, evaluations, case study development and project management.

Strategic review and development

We review current activities in the context of the organisation’s overall strategic direction and work with in-house teams to support strategy development. This could be in the area of enterprise education,  innovation, university-business engagement, incubation or knowledge transfer.

Example projects: We worked with Manchester Science Park, Sheffield Hallam University, Gaziantep Technology Park (southern Turkey), Loughborough University and the Royal College of Art on projects of this nature. We also worked with Medilink East Midlands to write the Life Sciences strategy for the D2N2 LEP.

Project development, management and delivery

We develop, manage and deliver projects and events on a long term or interim basis. We can assist at any stage from concept development, through bid writing to project management and delivery.

Example projects: We manage BioCity’s Alderley Park Accelerator ERDF project and we managed the Engineering YES (Young Entrepreneurs Scheme) on behalf of Loughborough University. We also design and manage an annual enterprise education events programme for Enterprise Educators UK and Kate acts as Conference Director for the annual 300 delegate International Entrepreneurship Educators Conference.

We help our clients to meet their funders’ requirements by undertaking independent evaluations of externally funded projects, including those funded by the EU. We assess achievement against objectives and gather evidence of economic and social impact as well as wider, sometimes unexpected, benefits of such projects.

Example projects: We have undertaken evaluations for a wide range of clients including New Entrepreneurs Foundation, London South Bank University, BioCity, East Midlands Incubation Network, Medilink East Midlands, University of Huddersfield and Nottingham Trent University. Most of these projects received ERDF funding.

Maximising and demonstrating impact

We advise universities on how to maximise and capture evidence of the social, economic and cultural impact of their work. We consult researchers, business people and other collaborators to obtain evidence of impact and use this to write impact case studies and reports.

Example projects: During a review of Loughborough University’s Impact Acceleration Account we obtained evidence of impact from academics and a wide range of collaborators. We have also written a large number of published case studies for Loughborough University.
